A homemade, plastic free, natural deodorant made with only 3 ingredients. (4 if you want to add a lovely smell too) So easy to make you can be done in five minutes.
Body odour is produced when the bacteria on our skin break down the acids in our sweat. Coconut oil provides natural odour protection because it has antibacterial properties.
The sodium bicarbonate reduces the acidity the surface of skin while the cornstarch will help to absorb moisture.
You can add any essential oil that you like the smell of. We selected lavender because as well as having a lovely smell it also has antibacterial properties

Ingredients for Natural Deodorant
1 Tbsp raw extra virgin coconut oil |
1 Tbsp Bicarbonate of Soda (Baking Soda / Sodium Bicarb) |
1 Tbsp cornstarch |
5 drops essential oil of Lavender or other (optional) |
Method
- Make sure your coconut oil isn’t rock hard – you don’t need to melt it but it needs to be soft enough to combine with the other ingredients. You will probably find that it works well at room temperature unless you keep your rooms very cold.
- Put all the ingredients into a small glass bowl.
- Mix well, until everything is combined – a metal spoon will be best for mixing.
- Transfer to a small clean glass jar with a lid.
- Use a small wooden lolly stick to apply a little of this natural deodorant to each armpit right after showering and drying the skin.
