Buckwheat Pancakes

Buckwheat pancakes are naturally gluten-free as buckwheat is gluten free and a source of complete protein, as it contains all 9 essential amino acids. We are using it here in traditional French crepes. The addition of the beetroot powder gives the pancakes a lovely pink colour

Leek, Carrot and Feta Savoury Carrot Cake – a delicious alternative to a traditional sweet carrot cake. Enjoy it as a delicious addition to an Easter lunch gathering. It will also make a tasty, quick lunch served with a side salad. And for those balmy summer days, it’s super to take on a picnic. You can also serve cubed as finger food at a party.

Healthier Hot Cross Buns

In our recipe we use wholemeal flour instead of white and Muscavado sugar instead of white sugar.

We are not using eggs or dairy either, so no butter or margarine.
The recipe is also free of fat, and therefore lower in calories, and also excludes salt.

For a more traditional looking treat, you can top the buns with crosses made of thin strips of natural marzipan.

A Plastic Free Journey

Since we started our plastic free journey at the beginning of the year we have made progress, but we do keep bumping into new issues which we hadn’t thought of at the start.

To be honest, that’s probably a good thing or we might not have made it as far as we have!

In this final (at least for now) post I wanted to highlight some of solutions we have found to these issues in the hopes that the may be of help to others on their own plastic free journeys.
